Forty Degrees In The Shade

It’s forty degrees in the shade, every hour sees his energy fade All of the plans that he made fell by the wayside the moment he strayed into a life on the run that’s come down to now in the blistering sun. Trying to decide what is worse…rotting in prison or dying of thirst.

It all unravelled when she left that day She found another, he just lost his way and he travelled into trouble again and again and again and again. It drove him mad inside those concrete walls, he took his chances through an open door and now a warrant’s gonna see him going back in for more and more and more.

It’s forty degrees in the shade, he thought he was safe but he’s been betrayed He’s lonely and tired and afraid of the consequence of the decisions he’s made Now it’s too late to get out…they’ve got him surrounded, it’s over no doubt. Here in the heat and the dirt, they’re gonna take him and it’s gonna hurt.
