Michael Larkings’ first ‘official’ solo studio album, the fourteen song ‘LIFE & LOVE’ was released in 2021. It’s refreshingly original, yet comfortably relatable, inspired by the infectious rhythms, beautiful harmonies and memorable melodies of the classic bands and sounds of British and American music during the 1960’s, 1970’s and 1980’s. It’s an album of meaningful, thought-provoking lyrical observations and recollections of life, delivered in various musical forms, from sensitive singer-songwriter style acoustic and electric ballads to savage, powerful rock in all its rollicking drumming, driving bassline, charismatic guitar riff and haunting, heaving Hammond Organ glory.

'LIFE & LOVE' was recorded during 2020 at Love Hz Studios (Sydney) and produced by Michael Carpenter, with cover art by Liza Murphy, graphic design and layout by Rhiff Larkings (Michael’s son) and publicity by Stuart Coupe.

'LIFE & LOVE' was dedicated 'to anyone and everyone impacted by cancer, directly or indirectly', with all proceeds from its sales being donated to the NSW Cancer Council. 

The first single, ‘Prayer for the Innocent’ was released July 2021 with a lyric video (created by Rhiff).
